Solar Panel Project

Electricity in Chuuk is expensive! It costs about $0.55 per kilowatt-hour. This is more than 5 times the cost of electricity in parts of the U.S.

The cost to run 1 refrigerator at our school is $50-60 per month. All of our teaching staff and administration live on the school campus and cook with electric stoves. Fans around the campus run 24/7 to keep cool. We rarely use Air Conditioning because it is so expense. Even still, our electricity bill is a large portion of our operating expense.

We would like to install solar panels on one of the many roofs we have on campus. Installing solar panels will allow us to use the money for other projects on campus. This would be a significant savings and source of funds to be used for many years to come.

We currently don't have a fund set up specifically for this project. However, donations can be made through Guam-Micronesia Mission to our Chuuk general fund:

If you donate to this fund and you want it to go specifically to this project you can send an email to
